The Spring of Life

I woke up this morning to the sounds of birds singing to me (I know they were targeting ME), lawnmowers starting their too-long-in-the-shed whining, and the smell of spring in the air.
To many the smellof spring conjures up wonderful smells. Here in Nashville the smell that comes from the Bradford Pear trees is...well, not too pleasant. But it lets me know that spring has arrived.
For many this has been a long winter. My winter began about a year ago, and is just exiting. It was challenging personally and professionally. God had me in a tough place, a place to learn. Whew! It was a winter of pain!
BUT it is spring. It is a time of rebirth - outside and inside. My heart is singing, my hopes are up and I am ready to bloom. Spring never look as good as it does after a long hard winter in your soul.
Happy Spring!!

Girlfriends

To a girl, her friends are many times her life line. When it feels like her world is falling apart, when PMS is at its peak, when 'he' pulls yet another one of his stunts - yet again, when someone close to you leaves your life - girlfriends will walk in the front door.
My daughter Jacki has the group of girlfriends that everyone dreams about. They are a group from her sorority -Tri Sigs - and they have carried each other through relationships, death, marriages, birts and everything in between. When one hurts, they all hurt. That St. Louis group is rare in this world...and one that needs to be emulated.
I met a wonderful group of women in Nashville in the past year. The group keeps growing. It has made me aware of how much I have been craving that friendship since I moved to Nashville from Chicago three years ago.
Aww...the diverse personalities...the different clothes styles...the laughter...the tears...the love.
Girlfriends...priceless.
